1. Scope

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Japan Trash Can Map website (japantrashmap.com) and its related web pages (collectively, "this Site"). By accessing this Site you agree to these Terms. Use of the iOS and Android apps is governed by the separate terms shown within those apps and on their store listings.

2. Acceptable Use

This Site is provided for personal, non-commercial use to help you find public trash cans in Japan. When using this Site you agree not to:

• Use automated tools (bots, crawlers, scrapers, or scripts) to systematically access, harvest, or bulk-download data or content from this Site, including the map's underlying bin dataset;
• Access the Site's data endpoints or files in a manner that places an unreasonable load on our servers, or in a way that circumvents rate limits or access controls;
• Copy, mirror, resell, or redistribute our editorial content or the compiled dataset as a substitute for this Site or its apps;
• Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or its accounts.

These restrictions concern the manner of access and the reuse of our original material; they are separate from, and do not override, the open-data license described in Section 3.

3. Data and Content Rights

Bin location data. Trash-can location data shown on this Site is derived in part from © OpenStreetMap contributors and is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL). That portion of the data may be reused under the terms of the ODbL, which require appropriate attribution to OpenStreetMap and share-alike for derivative databases. We do not claim exclusive ownership of the OpenStreetMap-derived portion.

Original content. Editorial articles, site text and layout, images we create, and other original material on this Site are our property and are protected by copyright. They may not be reproduced, scraped, or redistributed without our prior permission, except as permitted by applicable law.

Community contributions. Bin locations added by app and site users are contributed voluntarily and may be incorporated into the publicly available dataset described above.

4. No Warranty; Accuracy of Data

This Site and its data are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. Bin location data is community-contributed and derived from public sources; it may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date. Trash cans may be moved or removed at any time. We do not guarantee that any location shown is accurate or currently available, and we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the information provided.

5. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of this Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date above indicates when these Terms were last revised.
